“Corazón”: The Legacy of Community Health Workers in the Columbia Gorge of Oregon and Washington”

This 40-minute documentary is fully bilingual (Spanish-English) and professionally produced. It shares the history of the Community Health Worker movement that began in 1988 in the Gorge and has blossomed into a nationally recognized profession, with over 150 Community Health Workers (CHWs) now working in this region alone.

The film highlights the stories of several CHWs, showing the diversity of their work and the many ways in which they serve their communities. It was created by a team of CHWs and allies motivated to spread understanding of the importance of this movement, the unique roles of CHWs, their vital connections to Popular Education, Public Health, and the Social Determinants of Health, and the relevance to other regions and communities.
